Mixed-use scheme gets green light in Nottingham city centre

How the new building will look

Plans to build 69 student flats and three ground floor units in Nottingham city centre have been given the go-ahead.

Callithomes will demolish buildings on the corner of Howard Street and Glasshouse Street to bring forward the scheme.

The student accommodation will be made up of two-, three- and four-bedroom cluster flats.

Initial plans had been for 90 student apartments, but this was scaled back.

A statement accompanying the planning application said: “This is a very strong proposal that encapsulates the ambitions laid down by policy and in guidance for this largely forgotten area. It will start the reinvention of the area, deliver confidence and set a benchmark for the future investors and developers to follow within this urban block and in neighbouring opportunities.”
