M&E firm lands city centre student accommodation contract

How the new building will look

Nottingham-based infrastructure specialists Powerplus Group has landed the contract to provide electrical, mechanical and plumbing services to a new Nottingham city centre student scheme.

Powerplus will work with student accommodation provider MegaClose on the 69-bed development on the corner of Howard Street and Glasshouse Street.

Director Luke Handley said: “Working with fantastic local clients such as Megaclose gives Powerplus Group a fantastic opportunity to deliver mechanical, electrical and plumbing services on high-profile schemes within key sectors, such as student accommodation. We’re very much looking forward to offering MegaClose a comprehensive high-quality solution, on time and within budget. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to develop a long-standing business relationship across this and other projects.”

Works include mechanical & electrical installations, room fit-outs, safety systems, modern bathrooms and plant. Commencing in June, the project has a delivery date of October 2020 completion, in order to be ready for students for the 2020/21 educational year.

Lewis Quayle, Powerplus Group business development manager, added: “Powerplus Group are delighted to have secured and commenced works on yet another student accommodation scheme in Nottingham. With Powerplus being a local Nottingham business, we are always delighted to contribute to our great city’s improvement plans – especially with the local economy boost offered by students moving into the City to study at our fantastic Universities. It’s a great pleasure to be involved with schemes like this.”
