On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Katrina Handford

The Nottingham branch of the Women’s Equality Party (WEP) has appointed Katrina Handford as its leader.

The WEP was launched six months ago in the city and now has 80 members.

Handford said: “It’s fantastic to see the Nottingham branch gaining so much support, especially since we only launched here six months ago. We now have a really strong core team and are developing some great partnerships with organisations in the city to support women in both their home and working life.”

Handford is a senior leader at Nottingham Girls’ High School, which educates girls from ages 3 to 18 years, and she is passionate about empowering young women to be the best they can.

She said: “Through my work, I strive to nurture my girls, giving them as many opportunities as possible so they can thrive and enter their adult lives as confident, caring and compassionate leaders of the future.

“I am passionate about creating a world where my girls have the same opportunities as men, and this led me to become involved in the Women’s Equality Party to help advocate for women’s rights in all sectors.”

WEP is campaigning for equal pay and representation in the workplace, equal parenting and caregiving and for an education system that creates opportunities for all children.

The party also aims to address the ways women are portayed in the media and seek an end to violence against women.

Jonathan Aldworth

Construction and property consultancy Pulse Consult, which has offices in Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, Bristol and London, has made a triple promotion.

The firm has promoted Jonathan Aldworth to associate director and seen Dan Mason and Chris Priestley both moving up to a senior consultant role.

Managing director Ian Carey said “Our people are our most valuable asset and we recognise the high level of performance and dedication that our team members have consistently demonstrated. This has been particularly apparent during the current climate where we’ve all pulled together and supported one another to achieve personal development goals alongside Pulse’s business aspirations.”
