Notts construction firm wins £40m digital infrastructure contract

Nottinghamshire-based construction firm nmcn has won a £40m contract from CityFibre, the UK’s third national digital infrastructure platform, to deliver full fibre rollouts across Barnsley and Halifax.

This forms part of a £1.5bn investment, awarding construction contracts for full fibre rollouts across 27 towns and cities, connecting up to three million premises.

The combined work of both contracts is £39.6m. Works will start in early 2021, with completion forecasted for 2023.

The new construction contracts form part of CityFibre’s up to £4bn Gigabit City Investment Programme, which aims to reach up to eight million premises to upgrade to full fibre, supporting the Government’s own full fibre ambitions of delivering full fibre connectivity across the country by 2025.
