People: Hallam; Bhangals Construction Consultants

Chris Bliss

Nottingham digital agency agency Hallam has hired Chris Bliss as its new experience designer.

Bliss has worked across a variety of sectors, with previous roles at a motorcycle paintwork company, a start-up streetwear brand, and within the music industry, too.

He said: “I’m really interested in the convergence of branding and experience design, and the way that it can shape perceptions of problems and the products that can solve them.

“Both the variety of work and the variety of Hallam’s clients was a big draw for me, but working alongside a very talented and accomplished creative team is the thing I enjoy most about my role. I’m a big believer in collaboration and authenticity not just as a means to create good work but as overall principals, and these are two values I’ve already encountered a lot in my time at Hallam so far.”

Julio Taylor, CEO at Hallam, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Chris to Hallam — we’ve worked with Chris before, so when the chance came up to bring him into the team permanently, we didn’t hesitate. The creative department is a very important area of our future strategy and Chris is a perfect fit for our plans, both culturally and thanks to his experience and skillset.”

Joe Reynolds and Scarlet Price – two of Bhangals’ new hires

Construction consultancy, Bhangals Construction Consultants, is expanding with the appointment of four new members of staff.

The new recruits include two trainee estimators, a client service administrator, and a social media executive.

Parm Bhangal, managing director at Bhangals Construction Consultants, started the business in his bedroom at the age of 22 after completing a degree in quantity surveying. It now boasts two offices – one in Northampton and one in London – and 20 members of staff.

Six years ago, he also launched a sister company called My Build Estimate which offers an estimating service to contractors.

The new estimators have been brought in to help manage the growing demand for estimating services. They will carry out daily duties, such as estimating, liaising with clients and suppliers, reviewing documents and assisting quantity surveyors.

“Recruiting estimators has historically been a challenge for us,” said Bhangal. “We found that through changing our recruitment model to employ two junior estimators at a time, we have a buddy system in place that boosts training and increases performance.

The client service administrator will support the sales team and the social media executive will be tasked with looking after the ever-growing Bhangals Construction Consultants social media platforms.

“We are absolutely delighted that our team is continuing to grow,” added Parm. “We look forward to welcoming these new recruits and working together to provide the best possible service.”
