Conservative MP to double up as new leader of Nottinghamshire County Council

Ben Bradley MP

Conservative MP for Mansfield, Ben Bradley, has been chosen as the new leader of Nottinghamshire County Council.

Bradley, who has courted controversy since he was elected to Westminster in 2017, will lead the Tories on the council they took control of in last week’s local elections. He succeeds Kay Cutts, who steps down.

Bradley was the first non-Labour MP of Mansfield for 94 years when he was elected four years ago. He stepped down from his role as a Parliamentary Private Secretary last year because he said he wanted to spend more time in his constituency.
