Sixes and out for social cricket brand as Leicester venue closes

Sixes, the social cricket brand, has closed its Leicester venue – just two-and-a-half years after it was launched.

Sixes combines sports technology with a barm burgers, sharing plates and wood-fired pizzas. The Leicester venue, on Halford Street in the former 19 Gales unit, was opened in mid-December 2022. However, according to reports in trade title Propel, the site has now been closed down.

Sixes’ technology bowls out soft cricket balls, with points scored depending on which targets you hit.

The new venture was brought to Leicester by two local Leicester business partners, Neer Modha and Ravi Mashru. At the time, they said: “We had heard about Sixes Social Cricket and visited the London venue. As soon as we tried it we were hooked. It’s a fun concept, which brings together friends through sport and hospitality. We knew we wanted to bring the venue to Leicester and can’t wait to open our doors in December.”

The Leicester site was Sixes’ debut franchise venue. Last month, the business opened its first site at a country cricket ground, at Sussex County Cricket Club.
