Law firm announces four senior promotions

Clockwise: Till, Hinchliffe, Crowther, Tompkin

Nottingham law firm Nelsons has promoted four employees to senior associate, legal director, and partner roles.

Kirsty Tompkin has been promoted to partner and director of finance, while Kieron Crowther and Paul Hinchliffe have been promoted to legal director, and Zoe Till has been promoted to senior associate. Collectively, they have worked at Nelsons for nearly 27 years.

Tompkin, who has 17 years’ experience, joined Nelsons in 2004 as senior finance assistant after studying management accounting at university. She said: “I joined Nelsons while studying towards my Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification. I love the variety of my role and I look forward to continuing to drive the finance department forward and assist in empowering our clients.”

Commercial property expert Crowther has 18 years’ experience and joined Nelsons in 2019. He said: “I joined Nelsons because of the firm’s inclusive working environment. I am delighted to continue in this environment as a legal director and help the firm continue to develop its specialist property development team.”

Hinchliffe, who qualified in 2015, has practised real estate for the past seven years and joined Nelsons in 2016. He said: “I joined Nelsons to take the next step in my career. I enjoy the trust you build by having long-term relationships with clients and I look forward to enhancing these relationships in my new role.”

Investment management specialist Till, who has 18 years’ experience in the financial services industry, joined Nelsons in 2018. She said: “My favourite part of my role is speaking to clients. We have a great team in place and I’m looking forward to seeing it go from strength to strength. Being promoted really helps me to be part of that journey, to continually improve, innovate and support our clients.”

Nelsons, a top 200 law firm that also has offices in Derby and Leicester, was an early adopter of an alternative business structure, which means that employees who aren’t solicitors – such as those in finance, like Kirsty, can reach partner status.

Nelsons chief executive Stewart Vandermark said: “Kirsty, Kieron, Paul and Zoe are very valued members of the Nelsons team. I am delighted to congratulate them all on their well-deserved promotions.”
