Law firm announces partner appointment

Nottingham law firm Nelsons has promoted Kirsty Tompkin to partner and director of finance.

Tompkin has been with Nelsons for 17 years, joining in 2004 as senior finance assistant after studying management accounting at university, and has since progressed through the firm.

She said: “I joined Nelsons while studying towards my Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification. Nelsons offered an opportunity for me to develop in a supportive environment as I studied and I have since worked my way up through the ranks to now reach partner status.

“The key to Nelsons’ success is its culture and the work it puts in to nurture its employees, which is something I’m also very passionate about. Supporting my colleagues and watching them grow and develop in their careers is one of the most rewarding parts of my role. It also brings me a great deal of satisfaction to see the impact that the finance department’s work has, from working with clients through to helping to inform Nelsons’ board.”

Nelsons also has offices in Derby and Leicester, was an early adopter of an alternative business structure, which means that employees who aren’t solicitors, such as Tompkin, can reach partner status.

Nelsons chief executive Stewart Vandermark said: “Kirsty has proven herself to be an asset to the firm since she joined us 17 years ago and is thoroughly deserving of this promotion.
“I’d like to congratulate Kirsty on her promotion and look forward to seeing her continue to drive the department forward in her new role.”
