Lucky 13 assemble for trip to MIPIM

Some organisations from across the Nottinghamshire property sector will be leading “Team Nottingham’”at next month’s MIPIM property event.

The group will be going to MIPIM in Cannes, which attracts thousands of investors and developers from across the globe.

Like many local authorities, Nottingham City Council will not be going to the MIPIM this year but the group of businesspeople will join together to represent the city.

Liz Cartwright of Cartwright Communications worked with Lorraine Baggs of Invest in Nottingham, to bring the team together.

She said: “Over the past few years, Nottingham has succeeded in establishing a recognisable presence at MIPIM It’s been a challenging couple of years in terms of Covid but we wanted to maintain a presence at MIPIM until next year when Nottingham City Council and Invest in Nottingham will be there in force.”

“The private sector partners involved in this year’s delegation to MIPIM had no difficulty making a business case for being there. We have opportunities to market, requirements to compete for and we wanted to make sure that the Team Nottingham brand was out there and visible at the biggest event on Europe’s property and investment calendar.”

Lorraine Baggs of Invest in Nottingham, said: “Invest in Nottingham has had to take a very difficult decision not to have an official presence at MIPIM this year.

“However, we very strongly believe that it is absolutely right to sell the city to potential inward investors because that represents a key plan of our efforts to grow the city economy and create new jobs and new opportunities for people.”

Nottingham City Council leader, Cllr David Mellen, said: “The council is fully supportive of the representatives from the city’s property and regeneration sector who are going to MIPIM this year and we wish them success at this important event, which is starting to get back on its feet after missing two years. Nottingham has some amazing investment opportunities, in particular the Broad Marsh vision and city centre opportunities, which will be central to our pitch in 2023.

“Although not attending this year, we’ll be looking to take part more fully next year when hopefully things are more back to normal post-Covid.”

Nick Gregory of CPMG Architects, said: “On behalf of CPMG, we recognise the importance of MIPIM in terms of inward investment to the city. It’s vital that we continue the good work of the last two decades. Nottingham must not lose ground in terms of investment to other core cities.”

David Strong of Hexa said: “We wanted to support Nottingham at MIPIM this year and ensure that it maintains its strong presence nationally and internationally. We look forward to seeing what opportunities are in store in 2022.”

Tim Downing, managing director of Pygott and Crone, said: “The East Midlands is experiencing record growth in the property sector and as a firm with strong roots in the region and impending further expansion in the city we are very proud to be part of Team Nottingham at this year’s event.
