Plans revealed to create 150 jobs at Donington Hall

Donington Hall

Plans have been unveiled by the the Motorsport Vision Group (MSV) to turn Donington Hall into a luxury 44-bed country hotel.

TheBusinessDesk.com first revealed the plans by MSV – which is owned by former F1 driver Jonathan Palmer – last April.

Now, MSV has submitted plans to transform Donington Hall itself, former office building Hastings House and the Lansdowne workshops building, in a move that will create 150 jobs.

MotorSport Vision (MSV) is Europe’s largest motor racing circuit operator with six venues in the UK: Brands Hatch; Oulton Park, Snetterton, Cadwell Park, Bedford Autodrome; and Donington Park.

Last year, Palmer told TheBusinessDesk.com: ““We will be creating an extraordinary and unique facility. Specialist car owners will be able to fly directly into East Midlands airport, view their cars within 10 minutes of landing before settling into, for example, the Rosemeyer Suite at the hotel. Their chosen car will be prepared and warmed up, waiting outside the front of the Hall after breakfast, from where they can drive it up the original carriage drive and directly on to the Donington Park circuit. After a day’s circuit driving, our team will return the car to the workshops for cleaning and a check over before returning it to storage, while our visitors are on their way home.”

A planning statement reads: “Since purchasing the site, MSV has spent considerable time and resources in developing proposals to bring this nationally significant heritage asset into a viable use that would both enable its sensitive restoration and secure its future in the long term. Proposals for a luxury hotel are as close as practically possible to the Hall’s original use as a country house. As such interventions to the historic fabric are minimal and restricted to only those that are absolutely essential to the successful operation and therefore viability and of the
hotel.”

North West Leicestershire Council’s planning committee will decide on the application over coming weeks.
