Four firms take leases at new trade counter scheme

The new trade counter units at Park Drive

Four new tenants have taken space on one of Leicester’s most popular industrial estates.

Howdens Joinery, Unique Window Systems (UWS), City Electrical Factors (CEF) and Rexel have all moved into recently completed trade counter units at Parker Drive Trade Park in deals completed by Andrew + Ashwell and APB.

The estate was created on a redundant industrial site to the North of the city and has become a hub for warehouse and trade counter users including B&Q and Travis Perkins.

The new units were speculatively developed by Trafalgar Global adjacent to a 35,000 sq ft premises occupied by Selco.

Howdens has taken 8,000 sq ft and Leicester-based UWS 8,500 sq ft, while CEF and Rexel have taken the lease on 5,000 sq ft units.

Geoff Gibson, consultant at A+A, said: “The dearth of high quality modern new-build trade premises has long been an issue in Leicester.

“Parker Drive has proven to be a particularly sought-after location for trade counter activity and it is heartening to know that when we do see new development, buildings are snapped up by substantial companies able and keen to expand.”
