Day nursery reopens following £500k refurb

A private day nursery in Sandiacre has reopened after its new owner invested half a million pounds in an extensive refurbishment of the premises.
Ducklings Private Day Nursery has been operating for over a quarter of a century. Following the investment by Medusa Sojourn, who also directs Ducklings’ site in Sutton Coldfield, the three-storey facility now boasts an open-plan kitchen and an adjoining miniature kitchen for children, underfloor heating, an indoor sandpit and a raft of developmental resources and activities.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on 29 October to celebrate the reopening of the nursery. Special guests at the event included Merlita Bryan, former Lord Mayor and Sheriff of Nottingham, and the local Labour candidate for Erewash, Adam Thompson.
Sojourn said: “Opening our fantastic new premises in Sandiacre has been a real passion project of mine. It’s been a really long road, which has come with its fair share of challenges, but I’m delighted to finally see Ducklings re-open to the wonderful families in and around Sandiacre.
“The children in the community deserve the highest quality environment to grow and develop, so it was this that motivated me to make the investment into the refurbishment of the nursery.
“At Ducklings, we lead through kindness and authority, encouraging children aged 3 months to 5 years to learn through inquisitive play and structured learning programmes to give them everything they need to seamlessly progress into a primary school environment.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming families to our beautiful new premises and providing high-quality, dedicated childcare that their children rightly deserve.”
