Adult-themed golf brand to create 20 jobs in Derby

Adult-themed golf club Gloryholes is set to open in Derby for the first time.

The brand – which currently operates venues in Sheffield, Nottingham and Lincoln – has taken 10,000 sq ft of space in the city centre.

Its new home at 1-3 Albion Street was previously occupied by Logo Womenswear.

Led by entrepreneurs Drew Hewitt, Dan Brown and David Hood, the company offers customers the chance to play 18 “raunchy-themed” holes of mini golf.

Hewitt has cited Derby’s 30,000-plus student population as a big factor behind the move.

Gloryholes is the latest brand to take retail space in Derby owned by Nottingham-based developer ALB Group, which bought seven shops on Albion Street and East Street at the beginning of the year.

More than 20 jobs are expected to be created at the new venue.

Arran Bailey, managing director of ALB Group, said: “Gloryholes Golf adds a cheeky touch to Derby city centre, and will really provide a unique feel to a night out in the city. It’ll especially be fun for parties and stag and hen dos.

“We’ve already seen a massive change in the city centre since the other new tenants have been moving in – there’s a new vibe and a more optimistic feel, which is what we set out to create. We can’t wait to see how Gloryholes Golf goes down in Derby.”

FHP director Oliver Marshall, who helped the brand secure the lease on the property, said the venue expects to open at the end of February or in early March.

Picture shows (L-R): Ollie Robinson, Brian Fox, Jordan Hughes, Jake Deakin, Daniel Sellers, Trigg Hood, Nick Vidot, Dan Brown and Drew Hewitt.
