Major student scheme in jeopardy as developer edges towards administration

How the scheme would look

Doubt has been cast over a proposed student scheme on one of the busiest routes in and out of Nottingham city centre after the developer behind the plans filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

Manchester-based Crosslane (Huntingdon Street Nottingham) Limited submitted preliminary proposals for the six storey, 210-bed student block at 5-17 Huntingdon Street back in October 2019.

The plans, designed by Day Architectural, include a gym, private dining facilities, a cinema, games area, study space and a private courtyard.

Crosslane secured planning permission for the scheme in October 2021 and had hoped to see the development occupied by the start of the 2023/24 academic year.

The site on the corner of Huntingdon Street and Alfred Street North sits along one of the main gateway routes into the city centre.

TheBusinessDesk.com understands advisors from Freeths have been brought in to appoint administrators to the company.

As we went to press it was unclear what led Crosslane to file the notice.
