Developer gets backing for major Nottingham housing scheme

The site in Bilborough will be transformed

Plans for 130 new homes in Nottingham have been given the nod by city council planning bosses.

Strata wants to build the residential scheme on greenfield land to the north of Chingford Road in the Bilborough area of the city that is bounded by housing, the St Martin of Tours church, the Westbury Academy School and the St Martins care home.

If planning is granted next Wednesday (April 19), some 26 (or 20%) of the homes will be designated affordable.

The plans also include the provision of public open space and vehicular access.

A planning statement prepared by Marrons reads: “The scheme proposes a high-quality development of 130 new dwellings, with associated landscaping, public open space, highways, parking and access.

“The proposals will create a high quality development which respects and compliments the existing character of the surrounding area and local context.”

As part of planning permission bein agreed, Strata will be required to pay a Section 106 sum of almost £400,000 towards extra secondary school facilities.
