Access Group, a business management software company, has raised more than £1.3m for its selected charities in the past year.

Over the course of 12 months, the company, with its global headquarters based in Loughborough, has actively supported charitable causes in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Romania and Malaysia.

Parkinson’s UK, the largest charitable contributor to Parkinson’s research in Europe, was selected as Access’ charity of the year in the UK for 2022/2023.

Some £1m was raised through a combination of employee fundraising efforts, corporate match funding and grants from The Access Foundation. The money raised will be dedicated to supporting the charity, facilitating research, clinical trials and education into the condition.

Chief executive of Parkinson’s UK, Caroline Rassell said: “Over the past year, The Access Group has taken on some inspiring fundraising challenges, from skydives to mammoth treks, all rallying together to raise funds for people living with Parkinson’s.”

Fraser Graham and Natalie Giles-Grant, nominated Parkinson’s UK to be their chosen charity of the year, drawing on their own personal experiences of their fathers being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Giles-Grant said: “We have smashed all our fundraising targets, thanks to our employees in the UK, and this donation is going to help change so many lives of families like mine and Fraser’s who have been so touched by everyone’s efforts this year.”

Access has been involved in other commendable charitable work in Australia, where they raised AU$254,000 for the Variety Children’s Charity. Meanwhile, the Romanian team raised over £70,000 for a children’s hospital in Timisoara, which caters to half of the country’s population.
