The University of Nottingham’s Infinity project has received a £1.4m grant from Reasearch England.

This grant will be used to set up a fintech hub in the city centre, aiming to help with the growth of financial technology startups and businesses.

The grant will help provide training and support to academics who want to turn their research into something commercial. The hub involves three top universities in the Midlands: Nottingham, Birmingham, and Warwick.

The hub will be located on the University’s Castle Meadow Campus, next to Nottingham University Business School and nearby businesses like KPMG, which is moving its Nottingham office to this campus.

This setup will offer a space for students and businesses to collaborate.

Professor John Gathergood, the co-director of INFINITY, said: “We are delighted to receive this support from Research England, which will allow us to work with businesses to develop a unique environment in which university-inspired research can be translated into next-generation financial services.”
