Former funeral mortuary in Northamptonshire seeks resurrection in auction

A former funeral undertaker’s mortuary in a Northamptonshire town that include offices, workshop, garage and store rooms is up for sale in Bond Wolfe’s next auction.
The property at 25-29 Princes Street in Kettering, Northamptonshire will have a guide price of £230,000-plus in Bond Wolfe’s livestreamed auction on Thursday 14 December.
Ian Tudor, commercial auction director at Bond Wolfe, explained that the while the property was previously used as a mortuary, it could be a development opportunity subject to planning permission.
He said: “This is a part two-storey, part single storey building, and to the rear of the main building is a single storey addition, with a workshop and storage areas.
“The ground floor has five offices, a workshop, garage and stores, conservatory and kitchen, while on the first floor there are four further offices.
“There is also a very useful gated driveway to the side which provides access for loading as well as parking.
“The property is considered suitable for a wide variety of alternative uses, refurbishment or redevelopment subject to any necessary planning consents.”
The property extends to a total of 4,227 sq ft and lies to the northern side of Princes Street, within a predominantly residential area on the edge of Kettering town centre.
Princes Street is a local one-way route running between Crown Street and Wellington Street.
Tudor added: “We have not undertaken a measured survey, and so all interested parties must seek their own verification of dimensions and floor areas and satisfy themselves that the property is suitable for their proposed future use.”
