City briefs: Dunelm; Robinson

Dunelm, the Leicester-based homewares retailer, has posted first half results this morning (January 18).

The firm says revenue hit £872m for the period to the end of December 2023 – a rise of 4.5%. However, sales only rose by 1% in the second quarter of the period, which covered Christmas.

Dunelm says its profit forecasts for its full year are in line with expectations.

Nick Wilkinson, CEO, said: “The breadth of our range and outstanding value of our proposition continues to be well received by customers, resulting in a strong sales performance for the first half despite a tough market backdrop.”

Robinson, the Chesterfield-based packaging group, says it expects its full-year 2023 revenues to be down by almost 2% to £49.6m.

However, the firm is forecasting operating profit to be ahead of 2022, and in line with expectations.

The firm, which was hit by flooding at its site late last year, says it believes tje worst of the downturn is now over.

A statement said: “Following improved momentum in the second half of 2023 and reflecting the effect of new customer projects and the full year impact of cost savings, the company expects revenue, and operating profit (before amortisation of intangible assets and any exceptional items), for the 2024 financial year to be ahead of 2023.”
