Northamptonshire construction firm appointed on £12m care home project

A Northamptonshire construction firm has been appointed to a £12.2m scheme that will see the site of a former Milton
Keynes Fire Station turned into a care home.
KORI Construction was awarded the contract, after being appointed to a similar project for the client in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
The former fire station building has been vacant since 2020 after the fire service relocated to a new Blue Light Hub at West Ashland,
Now demolished, the developer plans to construct a four-storey, 75-bed care home, aiming to offer care services for older individuals and those with dementia.
Amenities will include a gym, hair salon, café, cinema, activity room, community lounge, community and private dining areas, as well as private landscaped gardens.
Site preparation work commenced in November 2023, with the development expected to take approximately 18 months to finish.
Steve Rickard, development director at Porthaven Care Homes, said: “We are delighted to be delivering another stunning purpose-built care home and sincerely look forward to embedding ourselves into the community.
“Professional and empathetic care is what Porthaven does best, and our team of compassionate staff are dedicated to the wellbeing, comfort and dignity of every single person in our care. We look forward to providing high-quality residential, nursing and dementia care from summer 2025.”
