Nottingham tech firm bags £10m Australian contract

Microlise Group, a provider of transport technology solutions based in Nottingham, has announced a five-year contract worth  £10.6m (AU$20M) with WooliesX, part of Australia’s largest supermarket chain, Woolworths Group.

WooliesX has chosen Microlise to implement apps across its entire online delivery fleet in Australia, serving 240,000 customer homes weekly and covering over 70,000,000 km annually.

Nadeem Raza, CEO of Microlise, said: “We are excited to be engaged with WooliesX, Australia’s largest supermarket chain and we look forward to updating the market with our progress on this important project and the Group’s expansion across Australia. This is a great example of how our technology is being used as part of major retailers’ digitalisation journey to the benefit of all stakeholders.”

This agreement aims to improve asset and driver visibility, monitor asset health, promote environmental awareness, encourage driver improvements, improve safety and compliance, and cut fuel costs.

WooliesX’s rollout of Microlise’s solutions has already begun, with the remainder taking place across the rest of 2024.

These solutions include fleet performance, journey management, health & safety modules, cold chain temperature monitoring, and comprehensive risk reduction cameras with AI driver distraction cameras.

Additionally, the contract involves Third-Party Integration with Woolies’ proprietary delivery management application (Woolies GO), allowing data sharing between the two systems via API, ensuring transparency across operations and driver performance.

Henri Le Comte, Head of Vendor Success & Commercial, WooliesX said: “As we drive the development of our connected customer experience forward, we look to partner with suppliers that will enable us to continuously develop an integrated solution across our operations. This is why we have chosen to partner with Microlise across several different solutions within our transport operations, including our journey of implementing EVs into our fleet as part of our sustainability strategy.”
