Administrators revealed at windows and doors firm
Administrators have been confirmed at a company which only last year moved into a 13,500 sq ft purpose-built new headquarters, TheBusinessDesk.com understands.
RKN Aluminium, which is based in Old Dalby, near Melton Mowbray, has appointed Moorfields to look after the day-to-day running of the company.
RKN moved into its new office and factory building last year, in a major investment for the company which manufactures aluminium windows and doors for the likes of Bowmer & Kirland, Aldi, Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon.
In its latest available accounts, made up to August 31 2022, a document signed off by directors, said that the 2021/22 year was one “like no other”, with the landscape continuing to be “extremely challenging and competitive”.
The accounts point out that costs had increased “several times” during the year, but that as it had been dealing with fixed costs projects, the company had been unable to pass these rises onto the customer.
Despite turnover increasing by 42% during the year, the firm slipped into the red.
RKN pointed to the “significant” investment in its new HQ as one which bosses thought would allow it to continue its growth and profitability. “Harsh lessons” had been learned, the directors said.
During the year, RKN employed 31 people.
Moorfields has been approached for comment.
