On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Mike Dickinson

Mike Dickinson has been appointed managing director of Russell Scanlan – the chartered insurance broker and risk management firm that has been based in Nottingham since 1881.

Dickinson has been with the business since 1999 and most recently held the position of sales & marketing director.

Russell Scanlan has also announced that its parent company, Acrisure UK Retail, has established its Midlands regional platform. As well as his new role within Russell Scanlan, Dickinson will become managing partner, Acrisure Midlands.

Bryan Banbury, who is stepping down as managing director at Russell Scanlan will remain as chairman to focus on client servicing and mentoring across the business.

He said: “The business is experiencing a huge period of growth which, coupled with our partnership with Acrisure UK and recent acquisition of BLG (Buildings & Land Guarantees), means that this is the most opportune time for me to step down to allow for the firm to continue to develop and evolve with this new structure in place.”.

Banbury joined Russell Scanlan in 1988 as an account handler, becoming managing director in 2007 after leading an MBO.

He added: “Mike has been absolutely instrumental in the success of Russell Scanlan and heavily involved in the collaboration with new partners – he has been a huge asset to the business and will be an inspirational managing director. This is such an exciting time for the firm and I am incredibly pleased to still play a part in that journey.”

Dickinson added: “This is a particularly proud moment for me. After 25 years at the business and now to take on the role of Managing Director is a huge privilege and also a challenge to build on Bryan’s legacy. Russell Scanlan is just starting on a new era of growth – developing closer working arrangements with Acrisure UK as part of its nationwide retail insurance offering and working alongside new acquisitions on their development plans.”

Mark Mcilquham, president of Acrisure UK Retail, said: “First and foremost, I want to thank Bryan for his exceptional leadership over such a sustained period of time. He is a phenomenal leader and an even better person. When Bryan informed me of his intentions, it was obvious that Mike was the right person to fill Bryan’s very large shoes. Acrisure is building something very special in the UK and Russell Scanlan will continue to play a pivotal role in our exciting journey.”
