Student scheme next to railway station gets backing of city planning bosses

Fresh plans to turn a disused cinema next to Nottingham railway station into student flats have been given the nod by the city council’s planning bosses.

Ahead of the council’s planning committee sitting next Wednesday (August 21), Zen Nottingham Limited looks set to get the green light for the scheme, which will include 31 studios and 50-bed cluster apartments.

Plans for a similar scheme that would’ve provided 39 residential apartments and retail units were approved back in 2020, but have been scrapped in favour of student accommodation.

The new scheme is being designed by CPMG Architects and is much the same as its predecessor – but without the retail element.
