Fashion stores merge and relocate at Derby’s Mercia Marina

A ladies’ fashion store has relocated to new premises following a merger with its sister brand.
Rachel Robinson, owner of White Finn is celebrating its 10th anniversary and has experienced growth since moving her fashion store to a new unit at Mercia Marina, near Willington, South Derbyshire.
The shop, which specialises in ladies’ clothing and accessories, has merged with Blue Water Clothing, a long-standing store at the marina run by Rachel’s husband, Steve.
The couple, both from Findern, chose to combine their businesses instead of competing at the marina’s popular Boardwalk retail and leisure development, where both stores have been since its opening a decade ago.
White Finn, known for its ethical sourcing of organic, natural, and breathable fabrics, will now offer a range of brands that were previously exclusive to Blue Water.
The merger is part of several recent changes at the marina, which also include the opening of Fletcher & Co estate agents and homeware store JT England, as well as the expansion of Hettie & Sid children’s gift store and Elegant Touch beauty salon.
Rachel Robinson said: “Now our loyal customer can still find their favourite brands and all visitors can explore and enjoy our new, curated selection. Sustainability is at the heart of our brand, with eco-friendly fabrics and ethically sourced materials.”
Steve’s business, Blue Water, continues to operate three other stores—two in Belper and one at Barton Marina.
At the new White Finn store, shoppers can find a range of items, from organic cotton tops and casual dresses to cosy knitwear and versatile trousers.
Brands available include White Stuff, Seasalt Cornwall, Tirelli, and Lilly and Me.
Robert Neff, general manager at Mercia Marina, said: “We’ve had an extremely busy few months at the marina, not just with visitors and boaters but with the very positive changes we’ve seen on the retail side.
“It’s fantastic to see that Rachel and Steve have combined their businesses under one roof and still remain here as one of Mercia’s original businesses, highly valued by customers old and new. The changes at the marina do not end there – but people will need to watch this space for some more exciting announcements to come.”
