Engineering firm marks 25 years with Derby move and new leadership

Selena Creedon and Craig Harbron

Bennett Engineering, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in November, has relocated Derby and appointed new majority shareholders and a new director to the board.

After operating for many years from Loughborough’s Technical Centre, the company has moved to a new industrial unit in Derby, which will allow it to expand its service offerings.

Founded by John Bennett in 1999, the business initially provided project engineering services to local companies.

Over the years, Bennett Engineering evolved into Bennett Engineering Design Solutions, offering virtual design engineering services.

The company grew further when Craig Harbron joined in 2012, bringing expertise in mechanical design and enabling the firm to provide outsourced engineering support to OEMs and manufacturers across the UK.

The recent move to Derby, where both Harbron and new director Seleena Creedon are based, is a key part of the company’s next phase.

The new location at Unit 5 Parcel Terrace will allow Bennett Engineering to offer additional services, including manufacturing and commissioning and also positions the company to work more closely with manufacturers in the Derbyshire area.

Creedon said: “One of the things I say is that Unit 5 is the place to come to if you need solutions; I have spoken to businesses who simply can’t ‘buy off the shelf’ machinery or equipment to solve their very real challenges in processing and manufacturing. I have also spoken to businesses with aging staff and those needing to restructure who need the support of experienced engineers that my colleagues are and the industrial workshop space to complete the assembly and build of their products.

“It’s brilliant to have the space to offer them at Unit 5 and the knowledge to help them. I am a big believer in the more we collaborate the more successful we will be as SMEs.”
