Kier Group, the property, residential, construction and services group, has been selected by Highways England as the preferred supplier for design services in the Highways England Area 7 covering the East Midlands.
The new contract, which is additional to Kier’s existing Highways England contracts, is worth up to £50m over a five-year period, and will start on 1st July 2016.
Area 7 comprises 79km of motorway and 428km of trunk roads in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Rutland, including stretches of the M1, M6 and A1. The contract work includes preparing technical designs and undertaking supporting work for capital projects from an initial scheme feasibility phase through to the as-build phase.
Kier’s chief executive, Haydn Mursell, said: “We are pleased to have secured an attractive design services contract with Highways England under its new delivery model. This contract reflects our adaptability and flexibility when working with clients, whilst showcasing our enhanced offering that has been strengthened by the acquisition of Mouchel. We remain confident about the long-term outlook for our Services business, underpinned by a healthy combined order book of £9bn across our Construction and Services divisions.”
