Marco Island locks in leisure letting

Virtual quest game iLocked has signed up as the first leisure tenant at Nottingham’s Marco Island in a deal which sees the firm make its UK debut.

iLocked, a game in which players have to work against the clock to escape from a series of rooms, has taken a 1,930 sq ft unit at the development on a three-year lease.

The move is iLocked’s first UK venture, having started out in Russia. Similar entertainment venues are now being widely seen in London and other major UK cities.

Matt Revill of commercial property consultancy FHP said: “There has been much uncertainty surrounding Marco Island’s retail and leisure units at ground floor over the past few years however, since being purchased by the new owners, it has been full steam ahead in securing operators for the ground floor of the development.

“Since FHP began marketing the 18,376 sq ft unit on the ground floor we have received a lot of interest. We are hoping that this deal will be a catalyst for the remainder of the space which has already proven to be the case as we have received a further two offers. It is a testament to the owners who have managed to adopt a pragmatic approach when working with new tenants to agree deals which work for both landlord and tenant. ”

Mr Revill added that FHP currently has a 4,638 sq ft unit under offer to a national retail operator while 11,808 sq ft remains available.
