Manufacturer raises the roof with military project

BURTON-BASED manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles has supplied 350,000 tiles to a building project that will help provide homes for 1,000 troops and their families returning from Germany.
The troops are relocating from the Rhine Garrison to Stafford’s Beacon Barracks, where national house builder Lovell has built 346 homes as part of the overall £150m Project Borona redevelopment of the base.
The building work has also seen the creation of barracks accommodation as well as offices, workshops, shops and leisure facilities.
Andrew Hayward, Russell Roof Tiles’ managing director, said: “This was a fantastic project to be involved with – great to be supporting our troops as well as the significant investment for Staffordshire and a fantastic opportunity to highlight our products on a large-scale development.”
It said the tiles were supplied on a schedule which “had to run with military precision” with 15 homes being built per week.
