Plans for 62 city centre flats get the green light

Plans for a 62-flat residential development have been given the go-ahead by Nottingham City Council.

HC1 Land will develop the currently derelict site, on Traffic Street, which is in the Southside Regeneration Zone of Nottingham City Centre. The flats will be a mixture of one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Granting planning permission, Nottingham City Council said: “The developer is offering local employment and training opportunities during the construction phase of the development.

A statement on behalf of HC1 Land by CPMG Architects said: “The aspiration is that this development will act as a catalyst for the overall regeneration of the city’s Southside Regeneration Zone, particularly given the fact that several other nearby sites are also currently in various stages of the planning process.

“The site in its current state does not contribute positively to the local urban street scene, nor does it contribute significantly to the wider Nottingham economy.

“Given the site’s high degree of visibility to train passengers arriving into Nottingham Station from London, Birmingham and the North, it undoubtedly merits a strong architectural identity, one that will contribute to announcing the city’s status and aspirations in a contemporary and positive manner.”
