Business Bytes: Why romance is dead in the office

OFFICE romances are dying out quick with nine in ten saying they have chosen not to act on their romantic feelings for a colleague.

According to research, 93% of British workers have fancied a fellow worker during their career, but only 15% have done something about it.

The survey, which consisted of over 1,600 British employees, found that the vast majority were too afraid to start an office romance in case they fell foul of harassment policies and lost their job.

While 62% were too worried about work harassment laws to ask out their colleague, 46% were simply too shy to ask.

Nearly a third of British workers were scared the other person would reject them, and only 4% didn’t feel comfortable asking the boss or an employee out on a date.

Nearly a fifth of those surveyed were concerned that a work romance would affect their chances of a promotion. 11% didn’t want to break the no relationships policy.
