Kuwaiti tahini giant to create 300 jobs in Corby

A Kuwaiti firm which manufacturers tahina and halva products is set to create 300 jobs in Corby

Al Seedawi, which is based on the Oakley Hay industrial estate in the town will initially create 50-70 logistics and transport jobs at its Corby site, but within three years will build production lines that will employ up to 300 people.

Al Seedawi wa stablished in Sidon, Lebanon in 1955 to produce tahina and confectionery items.

In 1959 the factory was relocated in Kuwait City and within five years it reached a record high in sales and production

In 1985 the Al Seedawi family opened a factory in Ajman, UAE.

A spokesperson for Corby Borough Council told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We are still awaiting more detail on the project but are obviously very pleased.

“We do feel that our discretionary Rate Relief Policy is proving a very attractive incentive for firms moving into Corby along with the very positive approach of the local authority.”

Al Seedawi’s website says that its UK facility will “breathe modern life into an ancient seed by offering unexpected flavors of tahini and halva and inspiring new ways to use sesame in everyday healthy cooking.”
