Music Magpie recruits to meet demand

MUSIC Magpie, the Macclesfield-based cash back website, has doubled its staff in the last three months, and says it is recruiting another 25 people to meet demand for its services.
The company, founded by former Music Zone managing director Steve Oliver, gives people cash for old CDs, games and DVDs.
It has doubled in size over the last in the last three months, taking the total number of staff to 75, and says it needs to grow to 100 employees to meet demand, as well as introducing a night shift rota to maximise productivity.
The site receives more than 300,000 CD’s, DVD’s and games each month, which it then resells through specialist retail outlets or to distributors. Earlier this month, the company extend its service to include cash for old mobile phones.
Craig Dawson, head of operations for Music Magpie, said: “Since launching last year www.musicmagpie.co.uk has had a staggering response, and with each additional service introduced we have had to bring in new members of staff to keep up with the increasing amount of stock coming through the door.”
