Urban Splash tops out at Longlands

PROPERTY company Urban Splash is hosting a “topping out” ceremony to mark the completion of Pattern House, the second building at its £15m Longlands scheme in Stalybridge town centre.

The scheme was one of many construction projects in the region to have stalled but eventually received some £4.9m of funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The ceremony will include speeches from Urban Splash chairman Tom Bloxham, HCA area manager Carl Moore and Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council leader, Kieran Quinn.

The first building at the scheme, Longlands Mill, was refurbished two years ago, The building had been derelict before it was converted into apartments with ground floor commercial space. Some 17 of the apartments have been sold, 18 are rented and a few more remain available.

Urban Splash chairman Tom Bloxham said: “This is a great scheme which isUrban Splash's Longlands scheme creating spacious, affordable apartments and wonderful commercial space that we hope will attract businesses to the centre of Stalybridge. The Build team has reached a significant milestone and we look forward to celebrating the next one when we complete the building in the spring.”

Deborah McLaughlin, executive for HCA in the North West, said: “It is great to see Longlands Mill reach this important milestone. As well as providing investment in the Longlands scheme, the HCA has been supporting Urban Splash and Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council to help them deliver these vitally needed affordable homes for local people.”

The two Urban Splash buildings are situated between the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and the banks of the River Tame in the centre of Stalybridge.
