Ex-JJB chief Ronnie to meet FSA

THE law firm acting for former JJB Sports chief Chris Ronnie says their client will meet the City regulator, the Financial Services Authority next week.

The meeting is understood to be related to an investigation related to his loss of control of a 26% shareholding in the retailer, which triggered his departure from the company.

The meeting, believed to be next Thursday, is not thought to be related to the inquiries launched last week by the Office of Fair Trading and the Serious Fraud Office into alleged price fixing and fraud involving JJB and its biggest rival Sports Direct

Anthony Barnfather of Manchester-based law firm Pannone said: “My client has sought a review meeting with the FSA and I envisage that will conclude matters.”

He added: ‘I can confirm that my client never faced any proceedings whatsoever by the FSA.

“He co-operated with the FSA and will do so with the OFT.  He has had no involvement with the SFO investigation and has not been contacted by the SFO.”
