Code launches online tailor

A Manchester design and marketing agency is claiming to have launched the world’s first online automated tailoring service.
Code Computerlove has invested in InnovaClothing which has developed technology that uses body scanning to produce bespoke clothes through an online service.
Code has supported Patrick Gardner and his wife Jenny who have spent the past nine years creating software that uses body scanners to capture the 3D body shape of customers.
Mr Gardner said: “Since body scanners were invented 15 years ago, the industry has been waiting for, and expecting, a technology that could take the raw data from the body scanners and automate the production of perfectly fitting garments. This is precisely what Innova has developed.”
Innova’s customers attend a consultation in Glasgow before having their bodies scanned. The rest of the process is conducted online where customers can view the clothing collections and place an order. It is being piloted in Glasgow for six months before being rolled out nationally over the next two years.
Code’s Tony Foggett said: “We’re always on the look out for great ideas to invest in and apply our R&D processes to break new ground; and Code has been involved with this project from the very beginning, helping to test the business concept and developing digital techniques to deliver this technology to consumers.”
