Grant Thornton relocates to Manchester’s new Landmark development

Landmark's social space area

Business advisers Grant Thornton has invested in a new flagship office in Manchester.

The firm, which has moved to hybrid working, has signed a 15-year lease on the 11th floor at the new Landmark development on Oxford Road, having relocated from Hardman Square in Spinningfields.

The move will “enable collaboration, innovative thinking and knowledge sharing” as it brings together all its staff onto a single floor for the first time.

The office fit-out has been designed with the needs of the team in mind and with the latest technology to enable flexible working and collaboration.

The new open-plan space also offers a range of diverse working areas including both standing and seated desks, collaboration spaces and private booths – equating to 240 bookable and flexible working spaces.

After a shortlist of three potential sites, Grant Thornton staff voted for Landmark due to its transport links, wellbeing and tech credentials, and environmental appeal in a thriving business district.

The new award-winning building that is located on St Peter’s Square provides 180,000 sq ft of workspace – circa 14,000 sq ft of which is for Grant Thornton – with the office being fitted out by interior specialist’s ADT Workplace.

Landmark Manchester arrival and welcome area

Carl Williams, practice leader for Grant Thornton in the North West said: “At Grant Thornton, we understand that while the world of work has changed over the last 18 months the office still has a fundamental role to play in attracting the best talent and nurturing the career development of our people.

“Having the team located on the same floor, something we did not have previously, was really important to us. It will help aid collaboration between our colleagues and clients and intermediaries.

“Through the selection process, we looked at a number of options across the city that would meet the aspirations and expectations of our people.

“All 350 Manchester based staff were consulted and the Landmark development was our clear number one choice due to its outstanding physical and intellectual connectivity here on Manchester’s innovation corridor.”
