An Edinburgh-based multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy has opened a Manchester office.

It complements Harley Haddow’s presence in Glasgow and London and is part of its expansion plans for the UK.

The firm said it aims to recruit around 10 staff as part of its Manchester opening at Work.Life, built on an “exceptional service demand” and year on year growth in its existing offices

Among the high profile projects the firm has been involved in are a major residential-led mixed use development in the Holbeck area of Leeds, and Sanctuary Housing’s multi-storey Sprinkler & Life Safety project in Chester..

The company, which was formed in 1950, has had substantial growth across all areas of the business, including civil and structural engineering, mechanical, electrical, and public health, environmental and energy, Net zero and carbon reduction planning.

Director, Sarah Peterson, said: “Expanding into Manchester is an exciting step for Harley Haddow and we are looking forward to capitalising on opportunities in the region. The city has interesting and varied prospects for us and we see it as an ideal location to recruit locally, launch and establish a North West hub and further business development.”

She added: “Talent acquisition, of course, plays a key part in allowing all that to happen, and we are passionate about recruiting and nurturing Britain’s top engineering talent. We pride ourselves on our director-led approach at Harley Haddow and are actively looking for the right person to take the helm in Manchester as we begin building a dedicated regional team.”
