Housing group seals acquisition of key Lancashire site for 130 new homes

Developer BXB Thornton, a joint venture between Liverpool-based brownfield land specialist BXB and developer Promenade Estates, has agreed the sale of its housing site on Fleetwood Road North in Thornton Cleveleys to Places for People, subject to planning.
The purchase price has not been disclosed.
The site, granted outline consent for 130 new homes by Wyre Council in July 2023, will now be brought back to planners via a ‘reserved matters’ application, when permission will be sought for details such as elevation design and materials palettes.
Daniel Hynd, Promenade managing director, said: “It’s been a long road, but we’re pleased that this under-utilised site can now provide much needed homes for local people.”
The homes will be for affordable rent and shared ownership.
Gary Goodman, land and planning director at BXB, said: “A developer that delivers new affordable rental properties always appealed to us because they provide a socially valuable route for families seeking high quality homes.”
The scheme will deliver a new link road into the Hillhouse enterprise zone, with added emphasis on green infrastructure and biodiversity enhancement.
The 12-acre site was acquired in February 2021 and previously enjoyed consent for a supermarket, permission for which lapsed.
