Terrace Hill plans superstore for Heaton Retail Park

PROPERTY developer Terrace Hill has submitted a planning application to redevelop Heaton Retail Park in north Manchester.

It wants to turn the 43,000 sq ft site, together with a neighbouring Sainsbury’s supermarket, into an 80,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s superstore. The plans also include three smaller retail units.

London-based Terrace Hill bought the retail park for £5.7m last year in a joint venture with Derbyshire-based Peveril Securities, part of the Bowmer & Kirkland group.

The site, just opposite the southern entrance to Heaton Park, was previously owned by Standard Life.

Today Terrace Hill also announced its acquisition of two sites in Sunderland and Shropshire which are earmarked for supermarket development.

Chief executive Philip Leech said: “The acquisition of these two new sites and the planning submission at Heaton Park further demonstrates our expertise in, and successful track record of, identifying and delivering high quality supermarket developments.”
