Vote for National Business Awards winner

READERS of TheBusinessDesk.com have the chance to vote for the Orange Leader of the Year award at the National Business Awards.
A shortlist of five leading business figures has been unveiled this morning and an online public vote together with the views of a judging panel will be used to choose the winner.
The National Business Awards are being supported this year for the first time by TheBusinessDesk.com.
The nominees are:
Julian Dunkerton, chief executive, SuperGroup – Mr Dunkerton established the Superdry clothing brand eight years ago eight years ago and has enjoyed a 25 year career in the retail sector.
Dr Mike Lynch, chief executive, Autonomy Corporation – Dr Lynch has led Autonomy from a start up to a multi-biliion pound company employing more than 2,600 people.
Ruby McGregor-Smith, chief executive, MITIE Group – Since her appointment in 2007, Mrs McGregor-Smith has grown revenues from £0.5bn to nearly £2bn and profits of more than £100m.
Ian Tyler, chief executive, Balfour Beatty – Mr Tyler steered Balfour Beatty to £319m in pre-tax profits in 2010 and has a built a reputation for the company as one of the most forward-thinking construction business in the country.
Jasmine Whitbread, international chief executive, Save the Children – Mrs Whitbread became the first international chief executive of Save the Children in April 2010 after performing the role for the UK charity since 2005. In her own words, “our not-for-profit business is still a business – but one where the bottom line is saving children’s lives.”
Chair of the judging panel Baroness Bottomley said: “The economic climate continues to present UK businesses with an unprecedented challenge: it is therefore particularly encouraging that the entries in this year’s National Business Awards have shown no drop in quality or performance.
“Congratulations to all nominees for demonstrating tremendous strength in their ability to adapt and innovate which no doubt reflects the resilience and optimism that are the hallmarks of UK enterprise.”
