Merseyside nursery owner opens second site

NURSERY provider Small Wonders Day Care Nursery has opened its second site after securing funding from NatWest commercial banking.
Its new nursery is at Thatto Heath, St Helens, and has a capacity for up to 84 children aged between three months and five years. It also has an activity centre specifically designed to cater for children and young people with additional needs as well as a greenhouse, allotment, a sensory room and a woodland-themed outdoor space.
Owner Paul McKeown set up his first nursery site in Haydock two years ago. He now employs 25 people across both sites. The nursery also offers breakfast, afterschool and holiday clubs for children aged 5-8.
Paul McKeown, owner of Small Wonders Day Care Nursery, said: “The new nursery has been designed specifically with children’s learning and development in mind and aims to provide them with a stimulating area that encourages the development of social skills and independence.”
NatWest’s business development manager, Barrie Keeble, said: “Paul and the rest of his team have already established a nursery with high occupancy levels thanks to the quality of care and facilities they offer.
“The new St Helens nursery is based upon the same principles and we are happy to provide financial support for this project.”
