Colliers sells three North West hotels

THE Manchester office of property ageny Colliers has sold three hotels around the region, including a 15th Century stately home hotel near Wrexham.
The Bodidris Hall hotel at Llandegla was one of four which was placed into the hands of administrators when former owner Stephanie Booth’s Manchester-based company, Global Investment Group, was placed into administration back in July.
The property, which is in the village of Llandegla near Wrexham and features nine en-suite bedrooms, a dining room for 26 people and a function room with capacity for 70 diners.
Colliers was instructed on all four properties by administrators KPMG. The remaining three hotels – The Wild Pheasant, Bryn Howel and Chainbridge Hotel – are continuing to trade while buyers are sought.
Neil Thomson, associate director of hotels, said: “We marketed the four hotels for a relatively short period of time and generated a huge amount of interest in each of the properties.
“The sales process clearly demonstrates that there’s a strong market for sustainable and profitable businesses which are realistically priced in the marketplace, and which will still attract bank funding despite the present difficult economic climate.”
The firm has also just sold two hotels in the Lake District – the Ravenstone Hotel at Bassenthwaite, near Keswick, and Ullswater House at Pooley Bridge on the northern end of Ullswater.
The Ravenstone was bought for an undisclosed sum by Kim and Cherin Marmon-Saxe with Christina and Adam Saxe. It has been sold by former owners Andrew and Debra Binns, who have retired from the business.
Haydn Spedding, associate director at the North West office of Colliers International in Manchester, said: “The Ravenstone Hotel occupies a superb location on the road between Keswick and Bothel. It was originally built in 1860 as the dower house at Greystoke Castle for Lady Charlotte Howard.
“The property remained in private hands for nearly 100 years, during which time it was substantially extended, including the addition of a large gentleman’s games room built by the Peel family in 1930.
“Now with 20 bedrooms, all with outlooks across the valley, The Ravenstone Hotel has been acquired by Kim and Cherin who look forward to making further improvements to the hotel and increasing its excellent reputation for food and rooms in a delightful location”.
Ullswater House has been acquired off an asking price of £535,000 from Tracey Breckill to Cumbria-based David and Angela Beattie.
