Energetix signs development deal with Calor Gas

ENERGETIX has said that its Genlec subsidiary which makes micropCHP boilers for the domestic market has landed an order from Calor Gas for the development of the first prototype boilers using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

The firm has also signed a deal with Calor Gas to develop and commercialise an LPG version of its Kingston microCHP boilers powered by Calor Gas, which will mean it can be used in up to 2m homes around the UK which are not on the gas grid network, and a further 25m properties across Europe.

Calor Gas is also planning to train its own Calor Force installation and maintenance team to handle the product.

The deal means that Energetix could use Calor Gas’s existing resources to sell the Kingston microCHP boiler in return for agreeing exclusivity of supply of LPG with Calor Gas.

Tony Stiff, commercial director of Energetix Group, said: “Building on our microCHP platform development to access off-gas grid markets is an obvious step forward for the company and working with Calor Gas to begin the exploitation of this market will bring their considerable expertise in the off-gas grid market.”

Calor Gas innovation & policy manager Paul Riding said: “When available, the Kingston LPG microCHP should help to reduce both the size of fuel bills and CO2 emissions of homes beyond the gas grid.”
