First social retail website launched

A MANCHESTER entrepreneur has launched a new website for outdoor enthusiasts that combines e-commerce with social networking.
LovingOutdoors.co.uk offers a range of outdoor products from industry brands like Garmin, Timex, Coleman, Hi-Tec and Outwell, along with an integrated online social arena.
The website aims to create a social shopping experience by encouraging customers to communicate across social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter.
It will allow customers to log into the shopping site through their Facebook account and then ask their friends for advice on products as well as share information about their recent buys.
Founder Scott Woodhead said: “I established LovingOutdoors after identifying a gap in the outdoors market and have built a website that aims to breaks the barriers between social media and ecommerce, in what is the first social shopping experience of its kind.
“We have taken advantage of the growing social media community to offer a website, which allows outdoor enthusiasts to come together and interact with each other on anything from sharing information about purchases they have made to which mountain they climbed at the weekend.”
