Rank Group shows off plans for £6m Didsbury casino

GAMING giant Rank Group is hosting a two-day consultation exercise in Didsbury outlining its plans to convert the former Buckingham Bingo unit at the Parrs Wood entertainment complex into a new £6m G Casino.
The company is hosting the consultation at the Waterside Hotel today and tomorrow in a bid to allay residents’ fears over the site – particularly in relation to its proximity to Parrs Wood High School.
The company, however, argues that the site is an “ideal location” as it is contained within an existing leisure scheme and was previously used as a bingo club.
“Our proposal offers a new adult entertainment venue for the area, which will see an investment of over £6 million, including the creation of 120 jobs,” said the director of operations for G Casinos, Richard Edwards.
“The Rank Group has a proven track record in delivering safe, responsible and fun casinos and we are excited at turning a currently empty property into a success story for the local economy as well as a great entertainment venue for our future customers.”
A planning application will be submitted by the end of Summer and if approval is granted the casino will open next year.
