Appointments: Ex-Sport Media chief joins 2ergo: Co-op appoints brand director; and more

THE former chief executive of Sport Media Group, Andrew Fickling, has joined Salford-based mobile software firm 2ergo as operations and technical director.
Mr Fickling, who led Manchester-based Sport Media from the £50m reverse takeover of Interactive World which gave the group a stockmarket listing in 2008 through a turbulent three-year period until its administration in 2011. During that time, he oversaw the group’s Daily Sport and Sunday Sport newspapers as well as a number of telecoms and digital businesses.

THE Co-operative Group has appointed David Magliano as its new brand director.
Magliano is a high-profile marketeer with a wealth of experience that includes marketing responsibility for the successful London 2012 Olympic Bid.
In his new role, Magliano will have responsibility for all developmental aspects of the brand and its communication across the group’s family of businesses, which includes food, banking, insurance, funerals, legal services and pharmacy. His remit will also include digital media, social media and sponsorship. He will report to the group’s director of marketing, Gill Barr.
She said: “David is a high calibre, proven marketeer and his appointment underlines the importance we are attaching to the further development of our brand within the UK.
“These are exciting times for The Co-operative in terms of maintaining the momentum we’ve seen in recent years and delivering plans which are anchored around meeting customers’ needs. David will play a key role in this and we are delighted that he is joining us.”

MERIDIAN Business support has appointed Andrew Pettingill as managing director of its industrial, driving and onsite division.
Pettingill joins the Altrincham-based recruiter from a similar role held at a competitor form for more than nine years.
Prior to that, he was operations director at a specialist recruitment firm which he led back to profitablity after a lossmaking period.

HALE-based new media agency First Internet has appointed Graham Robinson to the position of creative director.
He previously held the position of operations director since he joined the company in October 2010.
Managing director Stephen Alexander said: “Graham has a keen eye for design and has had an input in the creative side of the agency since he started at First Internet. He has extremely high standards when it comes to the standard of creative work leaving the business which all goes through him as a matter of course.”
Mr Robinson added: “My background is as a creative so I’ve always had a special interest in that side of the business. We’re known for our technical know-how but we have also produced some stunning design work both on and offline. I’m excited to push the creative side of First Internet forward.”
