Regus closes Exchange Quay centre

SERVICED office operator Regus has closed its Exchange Quay site in Salford and placed the special purpose vehicle which operated the office into administration.
The company had 12,400 sq ft of office space on the sixth floor of Building 8 at Exchange Quays, but companies operating from within the space were recently given one weeks’ notice by Regus to find new accommodation.
The special purpose vehicle which Regus used to operate the centre, Manchester Exchange Quay Centre, appointed Alistair Beveridge and Simon Appell of insolvency firm Zolfo Cooper as joint administrators on June 15.
The administration does not affect any of the other office space at the 500,000 sq ft Exchange Quay complex, which is owned by a trust and managed by letting agents Canning O’Neal and Savills.
A spokesman for Zolfo Cooper said: “The company held the head lease to the property and the administrators are currently considering options.”
A spokesman for Regus said: “Further to negotiations Regus has been unable to agree satisfactory terms for a renewal of its lease on the Manchester Exchange Quay business centre.
“This has resulted in the closure of the centre.
“With immediate effect Regus has relocated its customers to the other eight Regus centres in the Manchester area.”
Regus currently has 8 centres in Manchester: Peter House, King Street, Spinningfields, MediaCity, Fountain Street, Didsbury and Cheadle.
