Appointments: Appleton heads to Hammonds; GM Chamber & more

EXPERIENCED corporate banker Danny Appleton has left the profession to join privately-owned Cheshire wine and spirits distributor Hammonds of Knutsford as commercial director.

In his new role Mr Appleton, whose most recent position in banking was with Santander, where he was a relationship director in Manchester, will work closely with Hammonds’ managing director Jonathan Hammond to growing the business.

Mr AppIeton has also worled for Bank of Scotland’s Integrated Finance team and also for RBS in its large corporate team.

He said: “I am really excited to be joining such a prestigious and successful North West based family business. I can only thank Jonathan for offering me the opportunity to be part of his business, and I look forward to the new challenge and assisting him in to continuing to drive the business forward over the coming years”.

GREATER Manchester Chamber of Commerce has appointed Louise Timperley to the newly-created role of head of skills.

An experienced practioner in the sector, Louise has led the skills delivery for a national training provider and has been an executive board member on the Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network for a number of years.

She will lead the Chamber’s ‘Employer Ownership of Skills’ work reporting to commercial director Mark Hayes.

Mr Hayes said: “Louise’s experience and insights are vital for us at this pivotal time when developing a skilled workforce has been identified nationally as a key priority in order to deliver economic growth.”

MANCHESTER-based distributor I Love Cosmetics has boosted its senior management team with three new head of department appointments.
 
The Old Trafford-based company has recruited Martin Rylance as head of finance, Debbie Hyde as head of retail sales and Katie Carter as head of product development.
 
James Brown, founder and MD of I Love Cosmetics said: “We have seen tremendous growth since launching in 2008 – domestically and as a major cosmetics export business. These latest appointments form part of a wider investment strategy to accommodate our future business plans for continued growth.”

MANCHESTER-born Alexandra Holt has been appointed British Airways airport manager at London City Airport.

She has overall responsibility for the BA CityFlyer operation, the wholly owned British Airways subsidiary airline, which is now the biggest operator at the Docklands airport.

Alex joined British Airways a year ago and was previously worked for a number of other airlines, mainly based at Manchester Airport.
